For a long time using cheaper digital cameras with a microscope and a computer has not been quite as straightforward as some suppliers have claimed. Mainly because of differences between computers that has produced difficulties with the drivers needed to get these cameras to work. No more. The minigrab is completely driverless and now correctly belongs to the 'plug and play' group of products. You simply plug the camera lead into a USB2.0 port on your laptop or PC (sadly not suitable for MAC at the moment) and it will be recognised and installed by your laptop/computer in exactly the same way as a memory stick. You can then display the images from your microscope in any video software you already have on your computer or use the Minisee software supplied with the camera. You can take video clips and still images (as jpegs) and store these on your computer. The Minigrab will fit all of the microscopes in the Apex range. An ingenious accessory at an exceptional price. Microscope in picture is Apex Practitioner, not included with the minigrab
The New Apex Learner is an upgrade to our original Learner brand. This is an exceptionally versatile microscope that can be used to look at slide preparations up to x800 magnification and also whole objects - illuminated by the incident light unit at magnifications up to x150. This allows the examination of objects without the need to make slides.
Our most popular microscope - The Apex Practitioner is a modern well made microscope. It is used for looking at specimen slides and can magnify from x40 to x800.
The Apex Scaler allows you to measure things with a microscope. To do this you will need an eyepiece with a scale in it which called a measuring eyepiece, and a slide with a microscopic ruler etched on it which is called a stage micrometer. The Scaler kit contains both, together with instructions on how to do it. The measuring eyepiece for the Explorer Plus stereomicroscope is of course different from the measuring eyepiece for the high power microscopes, but we will sort this out for you when you order. Just make sure you tell,us which microscope you have
The Apex Researcher is a laboratory microscope for the serious scientist and those that like to use good equipment.
The Apex Snapper allows an SLR camera to be attached to a microscope. 35mm SLR cameras, either digital or film are easy to fit on to a microscope because the lens of the camera can be removed. The camera back can then be attached to one of the microscope eyetubes with an adapter. The Snapper is a clever little tube that has at one end a fitment to attach to your camera back (Nikon, Olympus, Canon etc.), and at the other end it clamps around the eyetube of one of our Apex microscopes. The microscope has then become the lens system of the camera back. It is that straight forward. You then look through the viewfinder, focus the microscope, and take the picture.
